Henri-Jean Guillaume Martin (1860 - 1943)

La Tour de Collioure

Signed lower right “ Henri Martin” | Oil on canvas | 90 x 110 cm

Henri-Jean Guillaume Martin was a leading French painter associated with Neo-Impressionism and Symbolism. Born in Toulouse, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and initially worked in a more traditional academic style. Over time, however, he embraced a vibrant, light-filled technique.

“La Tour de Collioure” (1920) exemplifies Martin’s mature style and his deep sensitivity to Mediterranean light. The painting portrays the picturesque harbor of Collioure, France.

"Paysage de Neige" (Snowy Landscape) by the world famous Gustave Courbet is a masterful example of Courbets skills, capturing the raw and tactile experience of a winter scene. Gustave Courbet was a pioneering French painter and the leading figure of the Realism movement in 19th-century art.

In "Paysage de Neige," viewers are drawn into a serene, chilly world where the blanket of snow dominates

DID YOU KNOW..........That Courbet’s most expensive painting ever sold at auction is “Femme nue couchée” (1862), which is sold in 2015 for over $15 million.
Another famous and considered priceless painting is L`Origine du monde, one of the most provocative and discussed masterpiece in art history.

An impressive pair of large Kangxi blue and white vases mounted as lamps. The vases are decorated in underglaze cobalt blue on a clear white ground, with finely painted panels of flowering shrubs and potted plants, framed by geometric and foliate borders—motifs characteristic of high-quality Kangxi blue-and-white wares.

This refined drawing shows the opera singer Laure Flé seated in an armchair, absorbed in her reading. Theo van Rysselberghe constructs her with a delicate yet assured line, allowing the pose to emerge from a haze of quick, parallel strokes. Laure Flé, was an opera singer and the wife of composer Georges Flé. During the summer holidays, the couple often welcomed artists, including Van Rysselberg on several occasions, at their villa in Ambleteuse on the Opal Coast in Pas-de-Calais. A stunning pair of Chinese cloisonné vases, now mounted as table lamps.

Each lamp is formed from a baluster‑shaped cloisonné vase with a turquoise ground, the metal body finely worked with slender wires that outline scrolling foliage, chrysanthemum and peony blossoms, and perching birds in multicoloured enamel. The enamels display the characteristic translucency and jewel‑like palette associated with late Qing cloisonné production.

The vases are set into finely cast gilt‑bronze mounts, the bases with pierced rocaille aprons and scrolling feet, and the shoulders fitted with conforming collars that transition elegantly to the lamp hardware

With their generous proportions and tailored shades, these lamps offer both ambient light and a decorative statement in every interior.

New in the collection is this important Meissen reticulated basketwork vase and cover from the 18th century exemplifying the virtuosity and exuberance of Rococo Meissen porcelain.

Beautiful applied flowers in high relief—rose, chrysanthemum and other realistic blossoms—are individually modeled and arranged across the reticulated body and cover, then painted in overglaze polychrome enamels and enriched with gilding.

The domed cover is similarly pierced and encrusted with flowers, surmounted by a naturalistic bird finial, a motif typical of Meissen’s sculptural decoration of the period.

A closely related Meissen reticulated basketwork vase is preserved in the Gatchina Palace collection in Russia, where it is highlighted among ten masterpieces of the porcelain holdings. That example, originating from the collection of Empress Maria Feodorovna, underscores the type’s status as a rare decorative object of high artistic value, intended for princely interiors and thematic porcelain displays.
